Broadheads
      #201076 - 08/16/05 11:25 AM

I bought a new bow this year and switched to carbon arrows. Right now I am shooting Gold tip Expedition Hunters 5575's. Im not sure what broadheads I should shoot though. Ive always shot Thunderheads but wouldnt mind trying something new. Any advice?

Personally I like Muzzys. They make a 100 grain 3 blade that might be worth a try.

One of the problems with going light(carbon) is penetration. Keep that in mind and stay away from really high profile heads. Otherwise, it is more important that they are sharp and hit where you aim.

Under the advice of an old archer with a ton of experience I went to the Savora 100. Shot an antelope at 17 yards facing me and the arrow penetrated the full length of the buck and exited out the back of the ham on the rear quarter. I watched the arrow as it came out. He also highly recommended the muzzy. He was not a thunderhead fan and neither am I after using them for 5 years. Good luck!

I have shot the phantoms. liked stingers better. If your looking for a double blade the silver flames, Stingers and snuffers are all awesome blades. I got to field test some Wac-Ems last year and really love these heads. They are a cut on contact one piece head with replaceable blades (only head of this kind). 1 1/16" cutting diameter the head is not shaveable from the factory but can be sharpened the blades are razor sharp from the factory. These things fly with my field points out to 70 yards. And took a muley and an elk with them last year.

76, They really fly well don't they. I hope they work as well for you in the feild, good luck this year. I also re-read yesterdays post and said snuffers were a 2 blade head, they are actually a three blade head.(my bad)
