Actually...we were talking about heading over to Ewdmonds one night. We would ferry over and walk to the pier. It has been real crazy here the last week. The squid jigs have been in high demand. Hopefully we will find some time this weekend. We were going fishing tomorrow but we need to make squid jigs.

Happy Squidding.

Cool Just let me know before you come over and I'll see if I can't meet up with you.

Well, didn't get out today. Made jigs for orders. We are going out tomorrow to our favorite pier. Hopefully we can make it over to Edmonds in the next two weeks.

This sounds like fun! Especially since I love fried Calamari...

If you have never squid fished you need to give it a try. Basically and rod and reel will work. A long rod is good when squidding from a pier. Any reel but I like a shimano quick fire spinning reel, light series. It takes a bit to learn the feel for the squid grabbing your jig but they are a really cool looking animal. And like you said, are great tasting!

Good Luck.

Squid fishing will only get better as teh days get shorter. You can catch squid now everywhere. It will really start getting good in October. I typically squid through Februrary.

It is a great activity!

An old WDFW(Fisheries) squid study documant I have found squid to be present throughout central and south sound year around. These are considered by some top be a fulltime residents. The ones that primarily support the rec fisheries are oceanic and migrate into the sound to spawn. They occur in vastly larger numbers than the residents. Port Angeles will sometimes have them present in August. Hood Canal gets some decent batches mid-August thru September. Beginning in November they start showing up in central sound with the run lasting into February. Good eats and if you run in to a batch of small ones consider saving them for steelhead bait.
