We picked up a set of caribou sheds from my wife's grandparents, typical plaque-type mount with leather and rope at the base of the rack. It's been indoors since they had them mounted, but we were thinking of putting it over the garage. Is there anything I should look for or treat it with in terms of durability or weather resistance before we hang it?

a good coat of waterproof polyurethane should help, but its just a guess.
