Hit the Vedder with the rest of the crowds. Few kings caught but none for me. Didn't see or hear of any Coho being caught.

This report is for FJ... so he don't have to go lookin' at any other boards, and because I can't tell if my PM made it through.
Fished the Vedder / C'wack Sat and Sun. Surprising number of bright springs migrating through some of my favorite holes. Not as many coho as last year, but that's OK with me. Gimme a #40 whitey anyday.
Big derby going on this past weekend, plus the 3 day Canadian Thanksgiving holiday weekend brought out a TON of people. River level and color were prime. Caught 4 species of salmon on Sunday. Pink, coho, chum, and springs.
If everything holds... it should be another good season.

Was up all last week. Was fairly slow until the thursday rain. Friday was GREAT, for springs anyway. Fish on all day long thursday through Sunday. Theres almost no Coho yet. In five days, saw only six caught, I had one on but lost it. We entered a small campground derby and the second place winner (300$ cdn) was a 14" coho jack. Winner was only 7.8.

Silvers were extremely late in our neck of the woods as well. Seems to be the norm this year.

I will be going up for a few day's at the end of the month, doing our annual trip a couple of weeks late. I hear lickmans has changed a bunch? Most of the holding water is from Vedder crossing up?
Big spring or bust!

Just back from the Harrison and Vedder. All four of us are stritly fly-rodders and on both rivers it was like 'shooting fish in a barrel' the whole time we were there.
First couple of days was with the STS guide service (young Ryan was our boat driver) and we ran up to about 3/4 miles below the dead line. For those two days one, or more of us had a fish on amost the entire time we were on the water.
One fellow (first day) actually caught/released all five salmon types. Most of the fish were chums, with a few reds and kings tossed into the mix (Harrison River). My biggest was a king that Ryan said would go every ounce of 30 pounds.
I'll take his word for it as this fish was the first time in years where I actually wondered how much backing I had on my oversized spey reel. He had darned near all of it at one point.
On the Vedder, we fished from the Lawson Road (Leyman?) road access point (behind the Haron place anyway) down for the better part of a mile. At the initial access point (hit the end of the road where it hits the water, turn right and go to the end of the 'dike' road.' Top pool had a lot of fish (and gear guys!) lined up, but all doing zip, save for one young fellow at the very top end. Rest hooked an occational fish.
Moved down to the RR bridge, same thing here. Lots of fish, but the one fellow there was into fish. Interesting part about BC fishermen, on both rivers!!, is they have ZERO problem wading in and standing litterly next to you .. even if you're using a fly rod. If that's THE SPOT they want to fish anyway.
Gave that up and we (again, 4 of us) continued down stream to the area where the power line crosses the river. Cast, cast, cast .. and zip .. until guy #4 with the heaviest sink tip popped her out. From then on .. well, we left the river (save for me ... )when we were too tired to cast/land/release fish.
All were very large and fresh chums!! Part that got my attention is there was one day (my first on the Vedder) that I miss-guessed what spey rods/lines to bring. I didn't hook a single fish ... the other three fellows .. well, back to shooting fish in a barrel.
