I'm putting one together now as a casting rod, should be done over thanksgiving. Ive also built a couple 1143's and others I've been very happy with the Rainshadow blanks.
Rainshadow which blank would you use for plugs hot shots/wiggle warts.

1264 is to long. I really like the 9.5' length for the smaller streams I frequent. Also on a long day the shorter stick is just so much less tiring. I bet an 1144 would be a fanastic spoon rod as well as float and drift rod.

The 1264 isn't to long for a float rod. If and or when a 1144 is available i'd take a couple for drift/spoon fishin.
CastawayChris I'll have to try the HS932. I wish they had some other 2 pc. rods. Thanks Mark.

10'6" isn't to long for a float rod. Probably just about right for most situations. But on the small waters I fish the extra length is not needed and becomes cumbersome in the brush and trees.

The Rainshadow rod numbers seem to match the number scheme of the G Loomis catalog. Another thought........I fished the Kalama for years. The upper river got pretty small by the end of summer but I stuck with my 1141 and even used my noodle rod. My though was the further away from the fish I was the less chance I had of spooking them. I would even stand in the brush and cast so they never had a chance to see me when the water was way down. I caught fish.

i just had a rain shadow break for no reason today. it was a brand new rod. i pulled on a snag, but not very hard and it folded. i have not bruised this rod or hurt it in any way. does this surprise any one? i have heard good about these rods, but also me and three of my buddies have broken one this year.

if a rod cannot handle the pressure that i put on it i dont want it. i was just curious about the breaking reputation that rainshadows have. i have only broken one loomis while fishing, and that was right after falling on it, then i tried to pull a springer up on the rocks. i like trouble free fishing. having a weak rod is like taking two hooks steel head fishing, your fishing could end for the day at any time.

heres the story, gloomis has spawned several rod monufactuers. one of which is rogue, three guys left loomis and started rogue. don't see to many rogues being fished. don't know why. the thing is graphite rods are as good as thier going to get. (brewer opinion) the rods nowadays are all very comparable in sensitivity and of coarse $$$. theres only one rod out that is still worth a dam these days... and thats "yellow" the yellow rods are still the best buy hands down. rumor has it that gary loomis himself worked for yellow pole co. at one time. he styled his first rods after the yellow pole specks. then moved onto the rods we all know now. he has not been able to put the durability into his rods like yella rods. styled

still aint broke my snoopy pole niether. the high end rods are so fragile. maybe an 8-17 lb rod would make more sense for winters? maybe i will try a gl2 in that weight, they are tough as nails, as far as graphite rods go.

Rods break unfortunatly thats the nature of tublar Graphite.Send it back we will replace the section at once for a small fee of $15.00 for return shipping and handeling.I have the origanl prototypes and believe me its been tested for for over a year and anyone who knows me will tell you that.Snags are the worst rod breakers out there because of the surge applied by the current when maxing the rods strength, can really catch you off gaurd.Braid can also catch you off gaurd.Rainshadow blanks are designed by fisherman that fish and if there is a problem we want to know and will find out why.We would not be in busniess if our rods were breakers and standing behind our warranties shows that.Tight Wraps!

i did to some more research on your rods and was impressed on what i have found out. i will replace that rod. i now know that you guys are trying to make new break throughs in graphite. i will support you guys. the rod was great prior to it breaking, very sensitive. i'm also going to try one of the new rods that this post is about. i do not fish any braid for steel head, i hate to fight steel head on it.
