I've run into the same issue. They would be fun to hunt but I can't shoot something I won't use in some way. If you want to spend a few bucks you could get a hide tanned I suppose.
When I was in college I hunted them a few times. I had one come in to the call and when I raised my gun up I asked myself what I was going to do with him. I let him walk.

Some people say that they eat Fifi, chickens, sheep, calves, all the deer so the hunters can't find any, etc. I'm thinking that in most cases that's the Coyote's job. Too bad they don't eat Cormorants or Sea Lions. I've never shot a coyote or mountain lion either. What would I do with it and I can't afford the mount. Can't justify shooting something just for the mount but I've seen some nice work done by Ax here on the board. Mountain Lion is supposed to taste pretty good but I don’t think I want to eat wild dogs yet.

I've hunted them a time or two, and I always took my hides to a client of mine who deals in hides. I also take my deer and elk bones up in the woods, away from the roads, so that they will have something to eat.

When you see a pack of nine eating grasshoppers, it's time to start blasting. It's only a matter of time till you see them munching on a new born calf. Scouting for deer this year we saw a pack of 9, I couldn't believe it myself, never seen more than 2-3 usually, 4 is rare.

With the weak winter this year's litter is running rampant. Might as well keep the roads clean and do the duty in the woods. At least it'll get eaten within a night or two, see 'em on the highway and they stick around for at least a week.

Hmmmm, Music knows where some are, Ax has a discount, wonder if my wife will let me put one somewhere? A shoulder mount would be cool in my fishing room. What's the regs on hunting them, my old Savage 308 hasn't been used for quite a while.

Can put 'em outside and keep the cats at bay

I know this is but on a side note about roadkill, when I was living in Moses Lake there was an abundance of deat cats on Hwy 17 by the base. Seemed like every week there was a new one, but didn't replace the older ones, just joined their company. In a world relations class we had to write a legislator about something that bothered you, with my pops a vet and all, I figured maybe we could kickstart a spay/neuter awareness. The reply I received, it's police/sheriff/WSP's job, that's it.

I tell you what. If you guys are looking to do some serious damage to a few flea dogs. Stop by my place in quincy and I will take you to the quincy lakes area and you can have a blast. If I read the book right, you can hunt them down here year round because of the abundence. I take the squeky out of a dogs toy and take the reed out of the toy and use that to call them in. I am with you guys on them killing the local chickens, calfs, and this year they even went to a colt. What a shame. Anyways PM me if you are intrusted and if you are down here, I will eigther take you down there or Give you simple directions.

Say 'ello to my little friend!!

Hey Jim, I shoot alot of these stinkin things, and use them as bait for other coyotes to shoot.

Things are way out of balance on coyotes around here, tons of coyotes and zero jack rabbits. If you don't think there is a problem, I invite you to come over here in late winter during caving season!

You are welcome to them all....but I aint packing them mangy things around, any ideas?

I'm not much of an advocate of leaving an animal to rot, but coyotes and cougars fall into this category unless they drop within 20 yards of the road.
