Alaska Fishing Tips new
      #215461 - 11/11/05 04:29 PM

My parents are going to haul their Motorhome from WA state up to Alaska and tour the state for the summer.

My father wants to do some fishing. We were wondering if he couldn't break even buy towing a brand new DB with all the options up there and selling it before he heads back. Is this a good or even decent idea?

I'm up for other suggestions anyone can come up with to have him fishing on a limited budget all summer all over the great northern state!

Thank for your help and /or ideas!

i have never been to alaska, but i think maybe a DB is the wrong option. maybe a zodiac is better. just because of the lack of rivers with boat launches. the rivers are just not accesable like the are here. the rivers are so big that motors are a must have. curious to hear how accurate this is.

Location- South Central Coast. I have no clue as to what rivers.

Would a Zodiac be a better option? Could he sell it off in Alaska?

Thanks for the input...keep it coming!

A driftboat is limited to only a few rivers in Southcentral. Mainly used on the Kasilof, just South of the Kenai, but also used on the Kenai, some use in Willow, Sunshine Creek, Little Su. in the valley North of Anchorage.
A jet boat is a better option, or a boat with a 35 horse or smaller outboard for use on the kenai.

My father is looking to get dual use out of his water craft. Salt & freshwater fishing. Can you head out to the fishing in the salt with a sled?

Also, if I was looking to fly in & catch up with them for a week what would be a good time frame? Mostly, intersted in getting a sore arm reelin in Kings and/or silvers that would be good eatin! Who wants to let me whore rides?
