If you've ever eaten cougar you'd be singing a different tune. I've never eaten coyote, but I know of a few people who have and they said it was good meat, and I don't know why they wouldn't be, cats and dogs eat the same stuff basically. As for the fleas and the like, it's not much different than skinning an elk that's covered with ticks. I'll shoot one one of these days and try the meat, hell the Asians have been eating dog for eons, and the Cheyenne Dog Soldiers didn't get their name from walking on all fours.

No, I smelled like wet hippy. Actually, coyote smells a lot better than a lot of hides as I remember, ever caught a whiff of a dead mink or muskrat?

Never shot a yodel dog. Usually see them when I'm packing nothing more lethal than a liverwurst sandwich, and a can of bear repellent. I've seen coyotes when hunting, but always figured a shot fired at them would warn any deer or elk three drainages over, that I was out and about, armed and dangerous.

My neighbor hunts coyotes in eastern WA. He said when he gets one, he dusts it heavily with flea and tick powder. Then he puts the coyote in a trash bag, seals it tight, and throws it in the back of his rig for the long drive home. When he's ready to skin the coyote, all the fleas, ticks, and miscellaneous cooties it was carrying are dead.
