Full Choke 870 new
      #221756 - 12/08/05 12:05 PM

I have a full choke 870 Wingmaster that is NOT stamped. Besides the fact that full choke is less than desireable for birds, I'm aware that steel can/will damage the barrel. Just trying to see what options I have. Unfortunately I'm limited financially right now, so inexpensiveness is key.

AAaaah, nuts. Try using Bismuth. Expensive shells, but chealer than buying a new barrel to take Rem-Chokes. That's the next least expensive option.

Saw 2" off your barrel, ream it out and have it tapped for Mossberg chokes. I'm only half kidding.

I blew the choke apart of my BPS when it got frozen one morning. I was in college and poor, so I just took it to the local gunsmith and told him to cut 'er off, re-tap it and screw in a new bead. I got it back in a week for $75. Been killing ducks with that stubby thing for the last 9 years.

Buy a new barrel, preferrably one that accepts choke tubes. Try e-bay first. Or you could dump $200.00 bucks on an 870 express and not worry about it. Hell, it's Christmas, and the other folks in your life can all get a duck for as a present, instead of something insignificant.

Try Kesselrings in Bow, or ebay for a barrel with choke tubes. Another option would be to look at the Beneilli Nova series. I saw one this week, in 12ga 3-1/2" for $309.00
I have the same problem with my 1100. My biggest problem is that I'm a lefty. Try finding a barrel for that :bigshock:

Try calling around to some gunsmith shops. They might do a barrel swap plus a little cash deal.

have a gun smith measure the thickness of your barrel they might be able to bore it out then thread it for a rem choke that is what I did with mine

Also, you can have a decent 'smith ream the choke to a specific constriction. I'd go with .015-.020 constriction.
