Oregon Dept Fish and Wildlife just voted to split Columbia river chinooks 50% sports and 50% Commercials. WDFW will be same which probably means one fish limits and more closed sport seasons. I'm kind of fed up. Down here the commercials always win.

Sucks. Plan B is back to what I did in the 90's. Fish more in BC. I just made a reser at Island West, Ucluelet for the last week of July, my boat, room/moorage. I've been to Island West 8-9 times and always did OK.

Just looking for advice on any other bring your own boat, drive-to resorts in BC. I'm looking for couple more weeks up there next year. My buddy is talking about Haggards Cove?

Any advice on drive-to resorts appreciated.

Thank you, BC

Very old memory here, but be sure to READ the BC game regulations. It's one thing if you want to 'just fish,' but quite another fee/registration wise if you bring your own boat.

Haggard's cove is alright. Poet's Nook just up the Inlet from Bamfield is decent as well. The Island has quite a few such locales actually. Feel free to drop me a line if you have somewhere specific in mind

Cheers,
Nog

Fred..I've towed my boat up there 6-7 times, last time was 3 yrs ago. I never had a problem, although they usually wanted to see my registration at the border.

I spend at least a week each year in Nootka Sound in late August. I stay at my buddies house in Tahsis.

IronNoggin, I usually stay at Poet's Nook. I had made reservations for the 3rd week of Aug. o6. They just called back to say the campground is full and we do not have a spot. Do you have any recomendations for other places to stay in the southern Barkley area. Good camping at Bamfield?
