For field points I have a couple. 1)Cut strips of cardboard and lay them on top of each other. Put a board on either side and run an allthread between them and tighten. Works great. Make sure it is supported because if it falls over arrows can be damaged. 2) The same thing except compress straw. 3)Stuff old clothes in a burlap bag.

I bought 2 - 4 foot by 4 foot sheets of foam from a local roofing company, (about 6 inches thick each). I glued them together with gorills glue or something like that (maybe rubber cement?). they worked great, but you cannot shoot at the same spot ever time or they will get shot out pretty quick. I used them for about 6 years. Even shot some broad-heads into it.

6 inch strips work fine, but you might want to go thicker to give some room for being shot out. Make sure you have it compressed tight.
