"New way" to connect spey rod sections. new

The debate of 'to tape or not to tape' spey rods section (to prevent the sections from twisting/coming appart) goes on and on. But the above was a 'new way' .. at least to me anyway.

Wow! That's NEAT! And it SHOULD be a very good solution to the problem and even end (or at least slow down) the "debate".

Thanks, Fred.

Have you tried it yet?

I first tried it in 2003. I think it works as good as tape. My only dislike other then having to keep several sizes on hand was it seemed the ends of the tubing (3/32")or so would become hard.
There may be some brands that don't have this problem. We only used tubing available at the local drug store.

i played around with this when it was posted a couple of years back, it is pretty neat.

i used colored latex tubing for building spinners, comes in a couple of sizes and does a great job.

once i started fishing meiser sticks i find the tape and wax ritual is useless. just my 2 cents is all.

Bob, haven't tried it yet; just ran into the idea yesterday. I've got a couple of rods that do tend to slide around (Like Stu., my Meiser rod's need neither wax or tape to stay put). This will either cause sections to loosen up or tighten up to the point you need a gorilla to get them apart.

Interesting point is the 'problem rods' all have spiggots with a smooth finish. 'Rough' finish .. never a problem.

The tubing method works very well on spigot ferrules.
