I'm watching TiVo recordings of the classics, so I'm catching up, but so far where I'm at today...Luke Clausen in the lead. Representing the West. I know a lot people from the west are rooting for Martens, but I would love to see Luke take it, Eastern Wa. boy winning the Classic, who woulda thought.

Sweet. I fished with his Dad years ago. Kid grew up fishing tournaments. He has already won big bucks FLW and BASS tournaments.

He had a 29 lb weigh in on the first day, not bad for 5 fish.

He's got 44.5 going into the last day. There's big fish coming up on the beds soon but it's going to be hard to catch him with the weather. We will know just after 2:30 our time.

The guy is 27 years old and gets to pocket $500,000 plus some extra goodies. Not a bad way to make a living.

MM…Luke Clausen is his name. Was very excited to see him finish it out. Huge difference from 1st - 2nd, about a $455,000.00 difference (if my memory serves correctly). Washington State taking home the title, I like it. Classy dude too. Course after Mike's little eruption on day one anyone would look classy, although I didn't think it was that big of a deal (except that the flag was attached to the pole).

This is the 2nd. Classic where Mike "the mouth" has gotten into trouble. Several people complained about his language in front of the fans last year but he didn't break anything like this year. Maybe Mikey should go play with snowboards where his "Xtream" attitude fits better.
MM is looking for Luke's dad's name. I'm thinking it's Lou but it's been several years. I'll get with Dana, he'll remember.

Guess I shoulda read MM's post a little more closely. My bad…
I think I heard a reference to Happy Gilmore when watching, and I have to agree. And along those lines, people may be looking down on him, but he's going to be a money maker. It'll bring a different type of fan to the sport. Younger people can relate to this guy easier because of the tattoos, because he's loud, because he's challenging the system. Right or wrong, I'm not making that judgement. But I do know several people that know nothing about fishing asking me who this guy is, and actually looking into it. People who don't fish don't watch fishing shows. Yet one of my buddies (who does not fish, or understand why I like to) sat down and watched the whole thing with me because of this.

I agree that mike is bringing a different fan base to fishing and bringing new and bigger sponsers to the sport and he is a good fishermen. Now with that said, I cant stand the guy. I didnt like him befor he won the classic. He's cocky, loud, annoying and a friggen tool in my opinion. Since he has won the classic its gotten even worse. now thats no reason why the guy shouldnt fish the tourney trail but when he is cursing in front of little kids and ripping stuff off his boat in front of the fans and things like that, I think then its time to have a talk with him. I herd that on 1 one, he had 20 to 30 boats following him then on day 2 he had none.Maybe that will put it in his head that you cant do that kinda stuff. Just my .02 Shaun.

What Byron Velvick said was he got his start in "big time" tourneys in the northern California circuit. Byron was excited because he knows him from fishing the west coast tour. He's actually been doing well in local bass tournaments all over the PNW for years, even as a kid.
