I've been shopping around for a good deal. There are only so many private party deals available. I'm looking at lots too and my hate for car salesmen is getting stronger.

Cupo, I've been leary of the typical used car salesman too. But so far I've been dealing with so ok kind of guys, they have not hounded me at all and no pressure except for the "would you like to take a look at this one?"

I found a couple of decent guys to deal with today. I ended up buying an '02 F150 from them. It was a fair deal. Not a steal, but fair. Next purchase is a new steelheader.net sticker for it.

That's cool I'm still looking. I'll need to get another sticker too! I think I have a spare packed away. Mine went with the truck when it got totalled.

New sticker has been ordered. Gotta represent.
It was dark when I got home and I'm leaving for Forks at 5am so pics will have to wait. It's exactly what I was looking for...2wd, supercab, 4.2 V6, automatic, 36k miles. I was dead set against using my Toyota for a trade in because I figure they'll always offer a lowball trade value. They offered me $1000 less than I was going to ask in a private sale. In the end they upped it to what I was going to ask.
This is the first time I've had a truck that isn't white.
It was a sad day for the Toyota fan in me. Not only did I leave my Tacoma with strangers, but when I stopped by my insurance agent's office he told me that his stepson totalled the '86 yota I sold him. Fell asleep and hit a telephone pole. RIP Toyotus Maximus.

I'm in sales and drive about 50,000 miles a year.
I've owned fords and chevys, 2x4s, 4x4s, AWD, V6, V8, I6, auto, stick, PUs and SUVs, all gas, in almost all of these combinations. Mileage only varies about 2mpg max with any of them, on the highway 18.5 is low 20.5 is high. This is on trucks from the mid 90s on. Now I just get them with 4 wheel drive and a V8, it only costs 1 or 2 mpg if any. When you pull a trailer the mpg drops to terrible (10 to 12) with any combination, so at least the V8 has more power. There are good and bad rides (comfort) in each brand, you won't know until you drive the one you are interested in. There are too many combinations of tires, shocks, springs, seats, wheel bases, and your butt to say one brand rides better than the other, you just need to drive them.
I've only had one bad vehicle, a 96 full sized chevy 1/2 ton van, three trannys in 35k, not pulling trailers, no hitch. Plus almost every system on van was replaced during the warranty period.

I got 18.5 mpg on my first tank. Filled up again tonight and got 19.8 on this one. Mpg is only one reason I wanted the V6. The 4.2l has a good reputation for lasting a long time, with the exception of '97-98 models.

I had the 4.2 in one F150, no problems, towed my 19' center console from Everett to the Columbia every week. I think the 4.2 got a little better mileage towing than the others, my current 2005 chevy I6 is the worst. It's a good motor, just terrible mileage when you hitch up the trailer. I have a set of 4 studded snow tires on stock ford chrome wheels, they have about 1,000 miles on them, had them on the truck for about two weeks. I'd sell them for $200.00.

Still happy with it. Comfy ride. Didn't think I'd like the bed cover but it's grown on me.
