I fished Irrigon yesterday for walleye. The water temps are about three weeks ahead of where they were last year, and the fish are starting to get active. There were 6 boats out and I saw 6 fish caught. One boat caught 3, I caught 2 and another boat got one big fish. Mine were 18" and 20", but we did lose 1 big fish. We used worm harnesses for our fish, but the others looked like they were caught on blade baits. I am going to fish Fulton Canyon monday and then back to Irrigon wednesday...I'll let you know

I am on vacation the week of March 13 and thought about heading for Umatilla for a couple days--keep the reports coming! Any opinions on how the fishing typically is that time of year? With the price of fuel I dont wanna head down there if the fish are still scattered from hell to breakfast. Also, should I stock up on blade baits? Worms? Jigs? Or should I just head for high desert and ask them what they wanna sell me? Its been 2 years since I was there, it was post spawn and I only had one day to fish on my way back from Portland...tough fishing but managed to catch 3 that day and I have wanted to go back ever since but the 320 mile round trip has kept me from heading out because I am not as dialed in on Columbia walleyes as I would like. Dont want to waste all that money and come up empty ya know?

Hire a guide there 3RVF   I know of at least one down there who will be fishin you could probably give him a call and he might help you out but only if you havent been readin the main forum about askin guides questions I will be down there startin next thursday and I will be fishin friday and sat. Give me a call and I will let you know how fishin is

Ran into Jason at the grocery store on Sunday. He said he is heading down Tuesday. I felt like when I was a little kid and my dad was going off on a hunting or fishing trip and I couldnt go! It is looking like I wont be able to get down there during my vacation.

Talked to my good buddy back in Kennewick, been heading down there regularly. Said they boated a 34'' (around 13-14lbs) and around 3 more between 7-10lbs yesterday. Hooked into a gator to boot. He's been out there pretty consistently the last few weeks. I can feel it, the records gonna fall anyday now...

Im heading to Dworshak to see if there is a Koke or trout that wants to commit suicide. Also, to try out my new sonar.
Sure am glad I didnt have plans to head out for walley today. What do you suppose is the problem..water temp?

The cold front that blew in just shut the fishin down I guess the week before they were doin pretty good and then last week when the front came in thing just went to hell!
A few days of good weather and the fish will turn on it would help if the water temp would start risin also.

Lil, I went on monday.
Great weather and my good freind Ken came along
We caught 10 Kokes...biggest was 13" and most were in the 8" range. Already smoked and eaten! Also, Ken hooked an 18" bull trout. All in all not a bad day for this time of year and I am in love with my new sonar. Humminbird 777c. That high res color screen was showing schools of those little 8 inchers with no problem and my handheld GPS has nmea output so I can lay a trolling grid out and work over the fish--an awesome tool that I have never had before.

WE have fished the Dent area in june the last two years and did pretty well, a couple of limit days. My wife was like a kid in a candy store. A fish every time see let out. It was a blast. Fish were 10" average with the biggest about 15". smoked and canned Kokes rock!!! LIL
