Ketchikan Fishing Trip
      #239284 - 03/22/06 07:55 PM

I was thinking about fishing the Ketchikan area in early September. I do not know much about the area as this would be a first time trip to AK. for me. Anybody know what is running around that time what rivers are decent in that area?

Silvers, lots and lots of really nice silvers, in the salt.
Ketchikan is on an island that doesn't have any "big" (Kenai, Kasilof, Nushagak)rivers most people think of when they think of Alaska. Your best bet would be to hook up with a charter and spend a few days on the salt.

Should be red hot for silver fishing.
there should be a bunch coming into herring cove to the hatchery.. you can fish here on low tide , Moutain point is another good spot for bank fishing.

I started my guiding career at a resort near Ketchikan in 1990, moved on to another resort in 95, the only thing I would trade between where I am currently and my days out of K-town is the late season silver fishing, K-town is hard to beat in Sept. when it comes to silvers.

Yeah, my sons have no idea of what they're getting into. Even on a slow day it'll be quite an experience for them.
