Which model are you looking at. We had some at our spey clave and some cast good while some other were like slugs. That being said I think just about every two hander made today is a winner with the right line.

I was looking at the 14'8/9 and 15'9/10 I like a heavy weight rod from the bank save the light stuff for creeks I blew my shoulder out a few years ago and after 3 days on the clearwater last week i'm thinking Spey is the way. I did hook up 3 times didn't land any,but one was worth the trip managed to hold on to him for a couple of minutes before he hit the whitewater.

Have not seen or heard much about the new St Croix spey rods and I am out in St Croix GLs country. Spey is the way there are lots of good rods and lines out there you should try a few different ones before you buy, try a test run from Red Shed, best way to go.
Good luck
