good lookin ride, except for that red color

on the bright side when fishing slows, you could rent it out as a fire support vehicle, maybe command and control even

Marty your going in the right direction. My 89 4runner got 30mpg last trip to Lewiston and I had the pedal to the metal both ways. It's a little slugish on hills but it will do 90mph. I developed a leak on the fuel rail and haven't had a chance to fix it yet. It will be hard to climb in the old one after the new but these are as dependable as they get. Once I get it fixed I'm going to sell it and buy a shell for the new one.

Yeah, I can see where you're going with the shell. Next purchase after that....a hide-a-bed.

Then it would be a red mini B-Run camper. I like it! I have a life sized image of Southfork cooking oatmeal in the back of that truck. Better yet, grilling burgers, drinking a whiskey and Dr. Pepper, and reading a Harlequin Romance Novel.

(That was a shot at both guys by the way... )

How about a memory of it starting to rain around midnight. It was pounding hard enough to wake my drunk ass up under the shell. Next morning it was still raining at a constant rate. Fishing was called and after about a 30 second good buy my dry ass was inbound for home I really felt bad for the guy's in the tents.... No really I did

Marty I have 2 Toyotas in the driveway next to the F-250. I've had 2 others. They run forever, and the 4 bangers get great mileage. I drive a RAV4 to work and I fill it up every 3 weeks. I'm thinking a 4 Runner or a 4 banger pick up would be perfect for you.

Oh how pathetic! If we wetsiders did that, we'd never get to fish!

Wuss! (you know I luv ya Southfork!)

Hope you find one Marty. I just love spending money not spent on fuel on cool stuff.

Interesting cupo, Your not the only one that has told me that. The 4runner is an 89 that I picked up for $500. It had a blown motor and has 225,000 on the chasis. You can tell it also. I picked 93 2wd truck that was in the center of a 5 car rearender ($385). The motor was just rebuilt including having the head worked. I pulled the motor, main harness, and swapped oil pans. I had to take a sawzall to the front clip to get it out of the truck. So the motor is very fresh. The only thing that I can't figure out is It won't fast idle when it's cold and since the Lewiston trip it has developed a fuel leak in the high pressure flex line where it hooks to the fuel rail. So besides the fact it is a extreme fire hazard when it's running it's a good dependable rig. The cool thing IMO about these trucks are they are simple for the most part to work on and if you keep your oil changed they will last 200,000 miles+. I can fill that 4runner up and drive damn near 6 weeks without hitting the pumps. Round trip to work and back to the house is 3 miles which helps.

My 06 with a V6 and 5 speed auto is rated for 17MPG city and 21MPG highway while the same truck with a 6 speed manual is rated for 16MPG city and 20MPG highway.

Joe, you keep the Powerstroke parked during the week and drive the Rav4 and I think this is what Marty has in mind. It did cross my mind to buy a bigger truck and drive the 4runner during the week. But since my commute is so short I decided against it.

you hit the nail on the head southfork.. I like to bank fish too so don't need that pulling power all the time. 60 bucks just to wet a line isn't very appealing.

Don't commit to just a truck Marty. You'd look damn sexy in a pink KIA hatchback sporting rod racks Trust me I'd be glad to post pictures and plaster them all over the web....

Maybe it's just my way of thinking but I bet I wouldn't see you at the pumps...
