Finding Ling Spots
      #242739 - 04/16/06 10:31 PM

Check out Pacific Northwest diver magazines and websites. If you ride the ferries you will find copies of NW Dive News....I check these out every time I find a new one.

The one I picked up today had an excellent article on a wreck at the mouth of Salt Creek about 8 miles west of PA.

Do some research also on the locations of shipwrecks.

Don't pass up the shallow stuff either....I've found ling hotspots in 20 to 100 feet of water. Shallowest was about 10 feet in Hood Canal jigging a dart.....also my biggest a hen estimated around 30 pounds. Put the hurt on my shoulder when it took on the jig upswing. Also watch for bait working those shallows...Hood Canal was always good for a couple of those every ling season in shallow water. You'll know its not a ling pretty fast.
