Start checking around docks and piers as this is the time of year you will start to see perch schooled up for the spawning run.

One of my favorites is underneath the South Bay bridge on the way to Westport if banking it. Around the old whaling station pilings on the east side can be awesome if you have a boat. My other favorites are local in the Canal and are closed to fishing perch due to unknown reasons.

Under the Narrows Bridge, on the Tacoma side. From the shore, just on the inside of the kelp. Good fighting and good eating fish depending on where you catch them.

We used to them tear them up at the Old Asarco dock and all of the pilings down by the new motel. Pieces of raw shrimp under a float or directly on bottom. They are tough fish for thier size. Especially if you hook a big ol Blue one!

What are those blue ones called again? I remember the shiners. Must be piling perch are the blue ones.

Sun perch are the ones who have a rainbow color scheme. Pile and redfins run a bit bigger. Pieces of sand shrimp or prawn, shore crabs, limpet meat, clam neck, sand or tube worms all work good.
