Sounds like a wise decision to me.

Mrs. Caveman can easily get up at 0330. She just didn't want to spend the day chumming and bouncing lead.

For those that don't get updates... Fisheries is putting out the info that this will be the best butt season in 10 years along the coast.

Here's hoping!

Scott, that'll be somthin'!!!

Anyway, today Loner, Castaway and I, got out there a bit later than planned, and ran into BonkerBill right away. He had two...So we had high hopes.
(Gooose had planned on coming, but Mrs. Gooose was under the weather, so he was the good husband, and stayed home and let his sensitive side show by playing nurse.! )

Way to go Gooose!!!

We picked our spot, and about 15 min later.... ON!!!
Loner was hooked up, got it in, and in the box. About 20# according to the chart, and later confirmed with the scale.

This was his first , and there were High Fives all around.
The first part of the day was a little windy, cold and bumpy, with part of the crew not feelin' so good... Later, the wind died, and the afternoon was flat and beautiful.
The did not want to play any more, so we only got the one for the day.
ellwoodP just showed up, and the 4 of us are hitting it again tomorrow.
First, though, we gotta grill beer butt chickens, loner's redneck ribs, 'tater salad, and pie.
Maybe a glass of wine, and a hot tub!!!

Day Four......got goin' earlier with chris, Loner and ellwoodp, after a night of fine dining provided by Mrs. Nav and Loner.
Fished several places with no success until early afternoon, when Mrs. Nav rang on the cell. As I was helping her out, my rod burried, and Chris ran over everyone to grab it.
He said "Do you want to reel this in? I have heard about harpoons, but have not done it myself."
I figured we'd have a better chance at boating the thing if I let him do the grunt work, and I took care of the finesse details.
That strategy worked, and we boated a 17# chicken.
Loner got his rig right back down, and hooked up within 5 minutes. Got that one too. About 12#.

The Motley Crew

The weather for the most part was nice. Here are the beautiful Snow Capped Olympic Mountains.

Great times, with great freinds, a few fish, and beautiful weather.
That's what it's all about!!!

Thanks, Nav & Mrs Nav for your usual warm hospitality, as always, it was fun hangin' & fishin' with you. It was good to see you again too, Billy. Nice warm sunny day fishing the salt with great guys, a couple butts to the boat, all in all a great day! Even Chris wasn't nearly as annoying as he tried to be.
