I just read an article that said black and white truffles can be found in the Northwest. Anyone here ever go hunting for them and found any? Just curious.

There's a company that sells hemlock trees innoculated with truffle spores. I'll try and find the name and number for them. Aroras book Mushrooms Demystified has excellent info on these also.

I've dug up a few up to a couple inches in size just look underneath mainly Douglas and Grand firs in wooded areas. I found them at my house after a teacher told us we could have extra credit in biology if we could bring one in. The fungus that forms them helps the trees break down needles and what not around the roots so the trees that have them tend to be a little bigger than their neighbors
