Hood Canal is open July 1st thru the 8th for crabbing. There are also low enough tides for puruit of clams and oysters. Anyone up for a mini-tilla here in Brinnon? It would require being able to eat crab for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

I will be camping and crabbing at Quilcene Bay with a bunch of relatives. Count me in. But I didn't think there were any low tides in that period. Maybe I read the tide chart wrong. Again!

I'll check my schedule and the tides to see what is workable. Dave you don't need a minus tide to harvest steamers and oysters.

DaBrow HC opens July 1st thru the 8th then reverts to it's regular schedule through Labor Day. I have to check the tides and my schedule....actually remember to check on them. I'll have it figured out next week. For those wanting to stay the nite there is the Cove RV Park two miles from the boat ramp.

It's family oriented.

The deeper the crab, the colder the water. Colder water makes them firmer and they seem sweeter and it's usually where you find the better sized ones.

Depths are going to vary....250 feet for the real deep ones. My pots are rigged for 150 feet. We should be able to shuck oysters both days....steamers are a possibilty also. Both of those are available right next to the boat launch.

I was checking the regs and I see salmon opens on 7/1 south of Ayock point. Is that area close to where the clamming/crabbing is going on?

I would like to go, but I'm putting my boat up for sale soon and if it's sold by then, I would need a ride.

I have a couple of blackmouth mouth carcasses and some trout heads for bait. I only have 50' feet of line on my crab pots so I guess I would be crabbing the shallows.

I also have a steamer pot, only holds 3 crabs at a time, but it's great for clams.

The Tilla is a few miles south of Ayock so it would be open for salmon fishing. I assume we are talking about the boat launch just south of Hoodsport right Aunty??

I can never remember the name of that steep, cobbled up trailer eater they use as a boat ramp there.

You could launch at Triton Cove state park...bout 20 minutes drive and run your boat down in to the open area.....kinda early for Kings down there. Some decent crabbing spots down that way if you do.

Cove RV Park is taking reservations...360-796-4723. They don't know me by my moniker. The Cove is not a place for a loud boisterous all nighter party though.
