The above is the water flows at Dodge Bridge located about 15 miles up stream from Medford, Oregon. Looks like the snow is really begining to melt up at Crater Lake.
Would take a 4 oz lead sinker to hold in this water.

Hummm .... this man has 'spies' everywhere. Actually if the spring kings were anywhere near the upper river I'd give 'lead chucking' a try. Been three or four years since I've used a drift rod.
Is the term 'birds-nest' bring anything to mind?

Gad! That actually sounds like fun. Haven't (save for one trip a few weeks back to the Kalama R) fished in Washington in close to 20'ish years.
The Yak, Wind, etc., used to be great summer time favs.
Edit: What's the name of the river that flows into the Columbia not far from Chelan, WA?

This is the water flow gage I use the most to determine: fish or forget it? Above the 'average flow' markers and it's pretty much a dead issue for fly fishing. Even at 3000 cfs you'll need a full sink line to have a chance in hell.
