P A derby
      #247467 - 05/29/06 04:05 AM

Hit the derby with 2 freinds. had one bite Sat, nothing on Sun,most exciting thing we seen was a 8 to 10 foot six gill shark floating around us. The opening weekend we seen 3 porpasis floating in the water in the same drift. Never seen a 6 giller before,to bad is was dead. That was like coming up to a nice buck road kill .speaking of road kill, Castaway is supposed to go fishing with me today,But that drunk will probably be a no show today.

Notes:
1) Above data was collected on Saturday May 27, 2006 at the Port Angeles
halibut derby.
2) The calculated weights were based on the IHPC tables.
3) The net weight is the dressed weight and is the weight that goes against
the quota.
4) Data was not collected on Sunday, however stomach contents were examined
and the majority had eaten crab. In all but one fish on both days that held
crab, the crabs were red rocks from 2 to 3 inches across. The one exception
held several of the little crabs found under rocks on the beach approx 1
inch across.
5) Those that held octopus generally had more than one of various sizes.
6) The fish found in most were generally well digested and the variety could
only be guessed at.
7) Several fish held rocks and one held a 3" piece of wood bark.
8) The empty spots in the data are just that. When things were hot and
heavy, some data was missed
9) The fish are listed as they came to the check station.
