A bit light for elk and bear but the .270 will do the job if the shooter theirs.

You should consider at least .308 if not 30-06 (I use -06 for elk). I agree with goose the .270 is a bit light, but capable if you are comfortable with the shot and accurate.

That'll do it. Still a bit light for elk...it'll do fine on black bear. Pick your shots carefully....a better choice would be the 30-06.

My last three Elk never heard the shot that killed them. 270, 150 grain nosler partition 55 grains IMR 4831.

A 270 will do the job just fine if the shooter puts the bullet in the boiler room, especially with that load.

Ever see a grouse at 150 yds with a 165 gr from a 30-06? Just like the boneless skinless chicken at Safeway.

Nope but I've seen numerous grouse hit by the logging company crummie at 40 to 50 mph. Sometimes they are just knocked in the head...sometimes they are a bit splattered. The tough ones were the ones we spotted in the ditch.

338 win with 225 trophy bonded is a very good grouse, rabbit and squirrel round too, almost as good as i think my 17hmr is going to be. the 338 works ok on elk too. the spike i saw last year may not think that highly of it. next time i get some steaks out i will ask it.

Federal's trophy bonded bear claw are an awesome bullet. I have taken elk, deer and bear with them. They are spendy though. I like them an barnes x as my go to factory ammo.

I have used all of them. the accubonds and core locks seam to break up, bear claws are not as bad but will. the beast of a round I found for my 270 is the Hornaday 150 GR SP interlocks, with 51 grns IMR 4831 very accurat load if you would like you can come over to the house and load your self up some. be glad to show you how its done, if you dont have the reloader. shoot me a call and I will get you a list of materials, and you can have at it. WTT what part of the animal did you hit to get the TBBC to brake up, just curious also what range was the shot taken from. I have taken over 30 big game animals with this load and the only time I have had fragmentation problems is when I have hit big bone at close range at which point every bullet made will fragment to some degree or another. I have NEVER had a TBBC fragment when I have done my part.
