Hearing good reports of kings on the Fraser
      #251184 - 06/28/06 01:19 PM

It's been slow but steady, now that the water levels have somewhat stabilized.
I'm hoping to get up there this weekend.
Sockeye will not be open soon enough for me

Heard that FJ. Me and Junkie are hoping for the sockeye opener this year too, due to the fact they took it away from us last year...

Yeah, I heard it is supposed to be the best in 15 years...the chug boats should be full every morning by 3 am. I am thinking gang busters this year. If you've never seen the circus of the sockeye run, it is worth the price of admittion!

I heard the same report. MM you are welcome to come up anytime.
And Craven.... The annual license with salmon stamp is $110.00 US and will DEFINITELY worth it.

I've heard rumors that july 20th is a potential opening date. But, I will keep you updated.

Yep, you see all kinds. Last time up, I saw a sit-down jet ski smoking up river, must have been doing 50mph. He had 3 rod holders mounted on it. My personal favorite is seeing a loaded car-topper bucking the current moving about 3mph.

Fraser is still pretty good for Chinooks. Expect the sockeye season to start "around" August 7 and go until the long weekend in September.

Barf'n seems to be the most productive method for catching kings. Big spin-n-glows and a LOT of lead

Aug 9th still looking like a potential sockeye opening.
But with the water temp the way it is, they are concerned with mortality and may delay.
Hopefully, rain and cooler temperatures will provide the much needed cooling effect.

We are planning our annual trip for Aug. 9th thru 13th. Anyone else planning to head up that week?

Hope the season opens on the 9th.

It's going to open tomorrow.

Effective 00:01 hrs Thursday August 3, you may retain two (2) sockeye per day
in that portion of the Fraser River from the CPR Bridge at Mission, BC upstream
to Alexandra Bridge.

Anglers are reminded that fishing is allowed during daylight hours only from
one hour before sunrise to one hour after sunset. Check your local newspaper
for these times.

Landstrom Bar Closure - The area described below remains closed until October
31, 2006:

Those waters of the Fraser River inside a line beginning at a fishing boundary
sign on the eastern end of Landstrom Bar, then to a fishing boundary sign on
the opposite bank, then to a fishing boundary sign on the southern end of Croft
Island, then westerly to a fishing boundary sign on the nearest bank of the
river, then following the river bank to the beginning point.

Variation Order No. 2006-374.

Hit the Fraser Saturday. No fish. Only saw a few fish caught. Turns out Friday was the day to be there.
Lots of nets , but fun day on the water with my son.
