Put a Bully Dog reprogrammer in the Dodge and man does she scoot. Being the cheap that I am, I did the "try before you buy" promo. What sucks is that it only lasts for 3 days, then reverts back to stock. Going to add and airbox, change the muffler then add a reprogrammer eventually. Don't want to run into a snag with the warranty.

Fishog,
I did the chip thing on my gen II Dodge a couple years ago and it made a difference. Stock was only 215 hp or so and it bumped it up to 280 or so.
Not to rain on your parade, as soon as you start adding electronics onto your engine - "you are your own warranty". Most boxes throw codes even if there's not a problem that can be detected when you need service even if you don't have to splice wires. The Edge box I had was a plug in so I didn't have any problems but others require splices.
I have an aFe filter/box with tube and a Banks muffler onto the 4" pipe of my 2004.5. At this time I don't feel I need more power so I'm staying with that.
Have fun, but take it easy, especially if you have an auto tranny (the weakest link)
The Power Shop in Enumclaw WA is about the best place I've ever done business with and they really know their stuff.
Good luck
Paul

I did have a couple of lights that popped up and had to bring it back to the Bully Dog dealer. Took about half hout to get them to go away.

In my own humble expereince, try the Edge system. It's not a chip & can be adjusted for fuel economy, or towing power within seconds. I have had great sucsess with it.Also, u can take the the thing out, if u trade your tuck in.

I Had an Edge Evolution in my 99' ford and Now have a PPE in my 03'. Like them both. The PPE has more settings than the edge though.

Sounds like your truck was off a bit Coho. Still, the improvements can be good.

Well my commute is 20miles to work, 17 is Highway. Once it the Average MPG peaks I am at like 21mpg were I was at 15-16mpg before. A good road trip would be best to see the difference. Which I have not had a chance to do yet.

Mine is a 2005. and my hiway is 16-17 when I take it easy. If I run 80 empty it drops to 14-15. Might have to think about this. Which Edge unit did you get?

Keith, We just sent a guy to Seattle and he's got a 2007 Duramax. It's stock and he got 21mpg running over and pulled an 8000lb boat back and got 14mpg. These are not computer numbers. He figured it the old fashion way.

Thats darn good #'s. Mine are from the onboard computer that lies.... usually 1+mpg less than puter says. I towed the boat to Pyramid Sunday and puter said 13.5 going there at 65mph... going home was nasty wind so was only 10.5. 4000lb boat.

I've been looking at programmers for my '06 CrewCab LB Dually with the Dmax LLY. There's so many to choose from I get confused. I'm not interested in the huge power gains, I just want to up the mpg to 20 or better.
I'll listen to intelligent suggestions...

From what I've read, the biggest gains are changing the exhaust and air intake. I don't know that the tuner is necessary. Take a look over at Diesel Stop and see what they say.

I agree.... If a bull can breath better it can run longer without as much effort. NO matter brand bull you drive....

Ya but that breath of fresh air cost way more than I can afford. Personally, I need to find a less pricey option.
