After scant sightings of one or two a week starting in April, the hummers arrived in force around 3 weeks ago. (mid-July) Black-chinned, Rufous, and Broadtail have been fighting over the feeders.

You have Rufous already?!?!?! Cool!!! I rarely see them until late August or September. So far this year I have seen (many)Black Chinned, (1) Broad Tailed, and (1) Calliope. In a few weeks the others will be run off by the Rufous, and that's all I'll see till they leave. Got to love the little buzzers...

Burt, I saw all 3 species on my feeders tonight! Had 3 or 4 chasing each other for about 2 hours. Male and (several different) female Black Chinned, (2) female Broad Tailed, and an immature male and a mature female Rufous. Thanks for getting me back to paying attention.
You know this year was the earlies (by 2 weeks) that I had hummers on my feeders. This marks the earliest I have seen Rufous also (by a week).
My neibor had a Calliope scoping out his strike indicator while he ate a sandwich last night on the South Fork of the Boise. I had one on my feeder last August. Neat little buggers.

Caught the "hummer" comment just by accident. Normally quite a few here in the south end of Ashland, Oregon .. but this year!! BONKERS.
HUNDREDS of our little friends. Between a three of us neighbors we've got something close to a dozen feeders going .. and emptied every other day.

Amazing, this week we still have scads of Black Chinned (mostly females), some Rufous (both M and F), a few Broadtailed (females), and I have seen 3 Calliopes (1 male and 2 females). In a week or two they will all be gone. We didn't get the Rufous invasion we normally do this year. In a way it is kind of nice, as all the others are still ahnging around.
Aluma165, how are your feeders faring?

Still seeing one or two a day(1 Rufous and 1 Black Chinned yesterday), but things have slowed WAAAY down around Casa de Mojo's hummingbird feeders the last few days. About over for this year I suspect...
