Two things... Labor Day weekend and not many fish around my area. Time to catch up/get ahead on yard work, etc., and try again next week.

Spent part of the afternoon playing Brown bear on the lower Quilascene. No fish so I'm having tofu and steamed veggies for dinner.

I spent the weekend with my wife, daughter, and one of my daughters friends in Stanley. Fires ahd the whole valley smoked out, you could barely see the Sawtooths. Caught a bunch of small trout that ran 2 to 13 inches, all on flies. My wife caught a 21" bulltrout on a spinner on the morning of her birthday. We spent a bunch of time geocaching, playing Clue, Monopoly, and Life, hiking, and checking out the ghost towns of Bonanza and Custer. It was 20 degrees Friday morning. All in all a restful and quiet weekend.

I was out of town, so the board died...

Brother Bob you convince them Quilascene pig silvers to start entering the river and it's whack and stack time.

I'm building up kitchen pass points until then plus tying leaders as those 20,000 silvers are gonna have about 30,000 summer Chumlords crammed into the same 1.5 miles of river. I figure going thru about 24 leaders in two hours for each days effort after work. I've had several evenings where all 24 leaders were destroyed and had to tie n a hurry at twilight. It's that kinda of fishery .

I took the wife and little man out for a little bank walking yesterday, wife hooked a dandy king that broke her of after a wild run up river and I caught a mixed bag myself, was a good time with great company!

Not much fishing to be had lately, I have been dividing my time between my day job, the station and helping my mom pack 33 years of stuff for a 12 mile move to Duvall. Summer has come and gone and I'm ready for some coho lovin!

I've been out for cutts a few times lately. Only been after summer runs 4 or 5 times all summer. Weather's too hot, river's too low. Been doing double shifts here and there all summer too. I'm waiting for the silvers to get here.

Wake-up coming on 24 September! Back from Oz new [Re: Rapid Robert]
      #258643 - 09/05/06 04:46 PM

I'm going barramundi fishing in the Deep North of Australia's Kimberly region at the legendary One Tree Beach. That 10 day fish-a-thon starts in a week. While it isn't quite as much fun as spooning for steelies on the Skeena, it's the next best thing.

Full report and pix at the end of the month. Till then, not much I can report on other than what's new in Colombo, San Jose (Costa Rica) and/ or Bangalore . . . not a silver in any of them as far as I can tell!

* * * * *

The last time I fished One Tree Beach was five (!) years ago the write-up made it on line in Western Angler, the best fishing magazine in Australia. It's a humor piece:
