I bought a Cabela's Fish Eagle Traditions 8/9 spey (13 ft) for 79.99 at the new store in Boise. I have a Tioga 12LA magnum reel. I'm stopping in Thursday or Friday at the Red Shed to see what line I can make cast on this thing, and then those steelies better watch out! I'm hoping to post some fish porn and not pictures of me all tied up in my own line...
The good news is the Clearwater Spey Clave is this upcoming weekend. I ought to be able to find someone that can help me out...

Jeff, I have to get my line and stuff, I'll call you once I get organized. I was planning on fishing the lower river Friday.
Saturday maybe fishing with Luv, Denali(?), and Southfork.
What flies should I be tying?

Nice avartar Jeff but it seems you've aged a lot since I saw you last week.
Mojo, I'd bet Jeff has some secret patterns for the Clearwater. I think the hot fly here is the one "you" have the most confidence in. Purple and black are good steelie colors most anywhere. See you in a couple of days.

Two that I'd recommend strongly are the 'Otis Bug' and 'Agent Orange.' I'll get you a couple of 'photo links' in a second. Both are Rogue patterns that have turned out to be VERY successfull on the Clear Water. Fred

The second one is the 'Agent Orange' used here/there for steelhead. If you Google the A/O you'll get another hit for this fly ... NO CLUE where this one came from; not even close!
