Chad I have property, at port susan, very near also,.. Dan is right about the summer crowd. The closest I get to the lake now ..is the roadhouse.

Anyway, there are a number of good lake,s in that area for bass, lake ki, twin lakes, that area, has all kind's of lakes.
But, If you decide to fish it there is a launch at wendberg state park.(for lake goodwin)

Were
gonna have chad drivin all over the place, there is a small lake very hidden, you need a 4 by to drive back, big trout, and i have heard big bass, it is between marysviile, and l.steven,s off of hwy 9. If you ever want to get your truck dirty, it is called lake martha. You can tell anyone, most don't want to walk back to it, or plunge through the mud, you do need a boat or a raft though. (you can't see it unless you know where to look)no public access, except the spot I am referring too.

Okay you guys, you got onto the bass thing so I'm going to steer you back to trout. Goodwin has good trout fishing too and holds some bigguns. I have fished there on and off for 30 years and I have seen some big trout come out of there, one in particular made the papers..9 lbs, 2 ounces as I recall.

The north end is fairly shallow and the south end is fairly deep. For trout, though I have caught lots and lots in the north end, big and small, concentrate on the south end across from the park. If you troll, try a wooly worm pattern tipped with worm. By far, the best producer is jigging a purple rubber worm in the deep water, just off the bottom, or free drift around the south end. You will get nice trout and occassionally a big bass. There are lots of perch as well since Shoecraft and Goodwin are connected by a small canal.

It is true about the waterski folks. They can be a pain in the arse, but it doesn't necessarily ruin the fishing. I have caught my limit with ski boats zipping by so close (just to be twits) that it almost swamped my boat. The fish didn't seem to notice.

Incidentally, the lake has a great crawfish population...hint hint

Maltby
The opening comment was about bass, but that's okay, ..I agree, I personally have fished this lake after a hard day of slalom(yes slalom not salmon) skiing, and camping, but you are right, there are some trout's too be had.I don't know how you can fish there in the summer, between, all the wacko's.
You have true patience my friend...crawfish?
have you tried eating them? most from this state taste like dirt?(c'mon tell us the secret)

Since I am allergic to crawfish and can't eat them, guess who will. The stomach contents of the bigger fish I have caught there always contained a crawfish or two.
