Tillamook Bay Report
      #262654 - 10/07/06 11:18 AM

I went down there this week with my buddies from Portland. One guy had the boat and the other has a cabin at Rockaway. We fished outside off the north jetty on Mon, Tues and Wed and in the Bay at Memaloose on Thurs for half day. We went 4 for 6. I got a 29 male and 24 female trolling herring mostly in 30-40 foot of wtr, although my buddy did get one on a 6.0 Coyote, glo green and white. My buddies got one each in mid 20's.

Ocean was flat Mon and Tues, thats when we got all our fish. Wed the ocean was nasty and the bite was off. Thurs we fished Memaloose but the wind was blowing 20, making it really hard to fish the narrow channels. Got blown on a sandbar once, that scared us and we quit about noon. There were alot of fish in the bay also, saw quite a few taken, we had one on and lost it. Most guys quit early cause of the wind. Runoff was up and it got really weedy. Had to clean the spinners every 5 mintues or so.

Word down there from guides and at the Garibaldi marina is that the run is looking very good. If you're thinking about a trip, try and do it on a weekday during a period of lower runoffs. Next week has big runoffs which makes for a bad bar and weedy conditions. These are really nice, bright fish and great fighters. There were guideboats galore and they seemed to do well.
