Sorry, I own five AR-15's in 5.56/.223 and one in 6.8 Remington SPC so no help here...I do however have an FAL L1A1 and HK-91 in 7.62x51/.308 and they rock! 
In an AR-10, I would look @ ArmaLite.

that's the direction I'm looking RR, thanks for the $.02
I figure if they are good enough for SWAT, snipers etc, it must be ok for hunting deer n elk. Like I need another gun?!?
Definitely not my old m16-a2, but I like the ar-10 style and knock down power!
