Well my cousin and I had a pretty good year of deer hunting this year. We drew 11A mulie tags and got permission to hunt on some pretty good property! We started off opening day seeing lots of deer and did alot of glassing. Then we walked down the Creek bottom and my cousin spotted this nice buck lying on a timbered hillside. He is a 4x4 with double eye guards. 25-26" wide with lots of mass. He is a real nice buck. Opening weekend was a cluster @#%$ to say the least! There was to many idots out and people trespassing where they shouldn't but I won't get in to that. We saw quit a few deer but no shooters. So last Sat. We went to another piece of property and started the day seeing lots of does and a couple small bucks. We went to the next draw and spotted a couple bucks one of which was a four point. They were to far a way so we decided to try to get closer and see if we could get a shot. As we were making our way down a small side draw my cousin spots a doe, we were watching her and spot antlers/brush that look like antlers. Watch for a while and yes they are antlers and good size antlers, so we reset up and go after him. He is lying under an alderberry bush and all we can see is his head and antlers but no body. We worked around the little ridge we were on and set up about four different times to see if we could get a shot to no avail. So we just sat on him and waited and for some reason he decided to get up and he turned away from us and then he turned broad side to me for just long enough for me to click the saftey and pull the trigger and down like a ton of bricks he went. I was lucky I was ready and set up to shoot because he only gave me that one quick chance and I was able to make the shot. He was down in the bottom of a canyon and there are no road so we were packing him out. But boy was it worth it. He is a 5x6(counting eye guards) 25" wide.
I tell you what a good pack frame is worth the money. I baught a Bullpac and it is one good investment. I shot him about noon and we got everthing back to the truck about 7:00. The last time we went back in and got the last of him it was a hour pack from where he was to the top of the canyon. Here is a shot of my last load. All in all WE had a very good deer season. Hunting with good friends and family is hard to beat!! And one last Picture. This is an End to a Good Day!!! LIL

Jake, he's not the 30"er but he is pretty unique. My tag was good Oct. 10 - Nov. 3. It ends a little before they start rutting hard. We were hunting the piece my cousin shot his on for white tail 2 years ago and it was about the 15th of nov. and they were rutting hard!! My cousin scored it last night and B&C it scores 151 net and 170 3/8 gross. He would go 175 6/8 nontypical. I took him over to the taxidermy shop mon. morning. I am either going to have a shoulder mount or pedestal mount done I have not decided yet. LIL
