Thats great Goose but these guys were a little dark for hillbillies. By the way are you sure they were hillbillies?
I also like how every snagger is labeled a redneck when most of the snaggers I see are driving too nice of vehicles and snagging fish with there loomis rod while in there 350.00 waders.

I called the state patrol office then I called olympia and also spoke directly to tribal police. nothing happened because they do what they want and just like in the past if they want to make it legal they just do it and walla! its legal. I.e when it was first discovered they were wasting chum salmon when at that time it was illegal for them to dump carcasses. An officer I know went to the tribe and had a meeting about it and the outcome was they changed there own rules to make it ok. Presto theres progress fer ya. The attiude now by the state is its a waste of time to respond to these type of complaints as there is nothing they can do. and on the tribal enforcement side he speaks a good game but doesnt do crap.

I'd like to hear Micros response but I will also comment in regards to Skokomish enforcement based upon 17 years of observing them. They have rarely enforced their regulations and it comes down to which tribal members are breaking their regulations. Since the Skoks removed themselves from the Point No Point Treaty Council and assumed 100% of their own law enforcement it has gotten worse.

Yeah Gooose. And guess what? Based upon your own experience, how many recreational fishermen poach, snag or otherwise break the rules?
I can hear you growl from here. 
Does that mean we should ALL be lumped in with the law breakers? Should we lose our privledge to fish because scumbags snag out there?
Of course not. We can't clean up our own house, so we go next door and trash the neighbors? That's just wrong IMO.

I wish tribes would experiment with other methods and consider releasing wild spawners, but that's really my only gripe.

LOL! Thats a good one Aunty. Thats like me saying if goose doesnt snag fish someone else will so its ok, but I wish there was better methods to snag fish.

Yes they were non-tribal Micro.  As are the ones on Johns River.  Been going on for decades.
The Skoks are probably the worst example of tribal enforcement of their own reg's and have more than their fair share of outlaws in regards to the resources. I'll readily attest to that. On the other hand they are a strong force for restoring and protecting habitat and salmon runs. Contradictory I know but I look at the bad side and the good side of the equation and the balance tilts strongly towards what they do benefiting all of us. I wonder how the tribes perceive our culture under the same microscope?

Thats great too Aunty. We need to clean are house first. Jesus! There wasnt even enough fish to snag in the rivers this year. So if everybody snagged there two fish when they went fishing they still wouldnt have been close to what the tribes took on the canal. The first day netting the Tahuya and Dewatto along with kenady and seabeck creeks the tribes took more then we could have snagged in a year. Again Aunty beating a dead fish. If you spent half the time mingling wit tribal members on the rivers as you do in meetings you might actually learn something about there attitudes.

Uh, you may need to read it again, because that's not even close. I realize you have "gaps" in your knowledge base, but you're a bright fella and should be able to understand. The public has as much right to those fish as you do. The tribes are the middlemen. If they weren't, somebody else would be. YOU WOULD NOT GET ANY MORE FISH!

In case you missed it, those fish have been targeted from AK all the way to the Skok. Maybe you need to brush up on who actually gets what. If you were able to read and understand the Boldt decision, you'd already KNOW that.
And, does this mean we can count on you to be in attendance at NORTH OF FALCON to represent sport fishermen or are you just going to keep whining year after year?

Micro I have observed the many abuses you have and maybe even more. I have also observed the many abuses that I hope you have on our side of the table and maybe even more. Not a competition just probably a diversity of experiences. I really like the father and sons up here in the summer who pack out stringers of trouts. Hmmmm those dead fish looked like Coho and steelhead smolts to me. Local rivers closed to all fishing but the locals still fish without fear as there isn't any available enforcement even if I called the very same State Patrol line you did and actually talked to an officer. There's a ton of abuse of the resource occurring on both sides. Can we agree on that Micro? I get angry also and try to do something about it..now I will not likely be able to fish for winter steelhead on the Canal for a decade...I did something and will live with it.

Not calling you a lier but were is the proof I can show you 4 nets rite now that are at the skok full of dead fish from before the floods in the mouth of the rr in the tidal water and to boot there going all the way across the rr chanel too. #1 Thje Skookomish Tribe has been the central force in the Cushamn dam FERC reliscensing process for the past several decades. Last we heard the federal courts found for the tribe and the fish and Tacoma City Light will have to significantly increase instream flows. Damn! That's gonna increase spawning and rearing habitat by what? Several 100%. My score Jim.

Skokomish tribe is goiung to remove the Nalley farm dikes and tidegates at the mouth of the Skokomish thus restoring an immense ammount of critical juvenile salmon estuarine rearing habitat. Score another one for me Jim.

really well hell if the nets were pulled during floods and the fish that are dead in thos 4 nets could have spawn that more smolt than what the water levils will help. so they do ONE THING and they are great helpers for all of it WOW
