Trout in the clearwater?
      #266781 - 11/09/06 10:42 PM

I have seen many trout in the clearwater (while steelhead fishing) what would be a good fly to try?

Reminds me of an old story about the guy who took his Retriever with him when he went dynamite fishing..

Travis, adams matched to the size of the mayflies that are hatching, caddis, and try dry stoneflies in the spring. If you drift a stonelfy nymph, be prepared for something BIG hitting it. They work well for steelhead.

In late spring/early summer I like to use attractor patterns like Stimulators and humpies. Green, yellow and red bodied ones work well. Later in summer sculpin patterns and muddlers work. I cant stand nymph fishing but a nymph as a dropper below a high floating dry or just with a strike indicator would probably work well.
