The old lamiglass that I stripped down to the blank and removed the old cracking and yellow finish from now has the new guides wrapped on it and 3 coats of clear rod finish. Its all slick and smooth, good as new and ready for 10 more years of hard use.

Those little single foot guides just about kicked my butt trying to get them stuck on the blank in the right spot before wrapping. And the metallic gold 3 wrap trim bands drove me to drinkin' But I learned a lot from the whuppins.
Thanks everyone for all your tips and advice. Im ready to build a couple from the ground up now and will be placing an order after Christmas.

Welcome to my nightmare. It starts with a repair or rewrap and just gets crazy after that.

Yep..funny thing is I will probably never use that old lami again but it was good practice. Still havent gotten around to taking pictures of it yet.

Florida for 9 days? Did you miss the cold, rain and fish?

Hey Chinook, the leg only hurts when I run now. Thankfully I gave up running years ago so it doesnt interfere with my daily life! Thanks for asking--hows the back?

I finally got around to taking a picture of the rod. I cant get a decent shot though. I think its too shiny. Every pick I take washes out because of the flash hitting the shiny finish and overexposing.

My next project is going to be building a squawfish rod..oops I mean pikeminnow rod on a SH1143 for my freind. He is a dyed in the wool baitcast freak and im thinking I might build him a caster with a blank-through reel seat.
