Hello,
I'm new and looking for a small two-handed rod. I really like the products of snowbee and had a look at the 12'' 6/7 torridge. Does anyone have any line recs for me? I've seen snowbee are selling those scandinavian speylines in 20gr. and 24 gr., don't now which will match best to this rod.
It would be great if some has advice for me.

Torridge Line recomendation
I have the Torridge and have been using a mid spey 7/8 wgt and a Snowbee Scandi head on it.
Red Shed has more info thats who I bought mine from a little over a year ago. Great light spey rod.

Hi Mojo, hi BG,
thanks for your quick response. By the way, what are your impressions on that cutie? I think it's a really nice finished rod, but I don't even fished or casted it. What about the action in live-fishing situations? My main rods are scando-style and relatively fast or med. fast actioned.
Comes this one more to the traditional or scando?
@ BG: How worked those scando-heads on that gear?

Mike, sorry I missed your post ... One place I'd recommend for additional information is the Spey Pages web board. 'Everyone' there is a two hander rod user and I'm sure they would have a wealth of info on this rod, line combo's, etc., and etc.

The Snowbee rods are the fastest action I sell. I believe they are faster then the T&T. The Torridge is no exception.
I haven't tried ) it with any scandi line but a 6/7/8 WC (55' head @ 29+grms seems to work nicely.
I don't care for the matchup Snowbee recommends between their scandi lines and the Torridge and Tamar rods. For me the 24grm scandi line is a good choice on the Torridge.

Yes its a fast action rod which I find I like
Might find more information on Snowbee Torridge lines on the UK salmon and trout web sites.
What are you going to use it for sea trout, salmon, and primarily with sinktips or floating, and what size rivers ?

sorry for my delay, but my computer made some trouble...
Thanks for the information you gave me!
The rod is already ordered, it should arrive in the next days.
First I bought such a scando-line in 20 grms., because I would like to add a polyleader to the line and this usually gives some extra-weight.
@black_ghost: The rivers I will use the rod for are generally medium-sized, but I look forward to use it in Germany's rhine.
Think this gear will give me the pleasure I hoped to get!
I will post my reply when I made my first test trials.

Good luck, but wow the Rhine thats a very big river as I recall my boat trips north of Frankfurt up to the Lorelei, 8/9 wgt+ type spey water. Big carp I bet are to be had.

Hi BG,
indeed, it is!  Mainly I use my 13,7'' 9/10 scando gear at that river, but the reason for such "light" rod like the torridge is the better feeling for catching walleye, bass etc..
But in USA I think you can be happy, you have much better rivers there in my opinion as we have here in Germany.....

Best rivers in Germany are in the south Bavaria, I hear, Austria, France, you can always take a short flight to scandinavia or even the UK so there is very good waters over there too.

okay, okay, we got some really beautiful rivers and lakes here, but I've never been to America. The pictures and reports I read gave me a lot wanderlust. I'm very fascinated about your countryside as you are from our castles. Scandinavia is also not so far away okay, but America always excited and fascinated myself.
Lets look, maybe I will stay there in holidays, I've to check my finances

Michael, hope you do get to make the trip, but get ready to redefine the word BIG. As an example, Oregon where I'm at is about the same size as Germany with a population of well under 4 million. Of that 4 million, 3/4 of them live within 100 miles of Portland, Oregon (our largest city).
What that means is there's not many of us left for the other 90% of the State. Montana to our NE is at least half again as large as Oregon ... population? 1.1 person per SQUARE MILE. Or another way of looking at it is your standing in a square 1.62 KM per side ..... you ARE the only one there.
I'm sure I'm off on this one but (if memory serves) the entire state of Wyoming has a population of about a half million.
You get the idea, lots of room to wander around in ... undisturbed.

that's what I'm looking for, I was always impressed by such big and beautiful landscapes. Perfect to have a stressless walk-around-trip with flyrod and my darling. My lady thinks the same way as I do, so what do I want more?
