Conversion to 2 pc???
      #277056 - 02/09/07 11:46 PM

Hi. I have an 8 ft salmon rod that was given to me by my wife's grandfather. Its a berkely, bought 5 years ago, but never been used. It is a single peice rod. I am wondering if there is a way to change a 1 pc. rod into a two pc rod. Anybody ever saw one in half and figure out how to make it work as a two peice set up? Thanks.

Jake

To much hassle, gonna loose sensitivity too!!! When i think about it, i don't even think u can do it w/o cutting a lot of rod away!!

Jump on rodbuilding.org and ask there. You can do it but I'm with Chris as fare as if its worth it or not.

It might be possible to cut it in two peices at the length you want and then install a spigot type frulle so you dont lose any length on your rod . Really it is just an inner sleeve of graphite or fiberglass that is glued inside one end and the other section can then slide on and off of that inner sleeve , you will want to have the sleeve run at least 2" into each section and you will have to reinforce the ends of the blank where you have cut them , you can do this by winding on some fiberglass tape and epoxying it in place . It's do-able but you would be better off fishing your grandfather in law's rod as it is and buying yourself a nice new two peice rod .
