Two weeks ago the water flow on the upper Rogue was so high (water being dumped from the dam) that it was almost impossible to really fish effectively with a fly (spey) rod. Now?
Water flows been cut to 30 some cfs over the legal limit of 750 cfs. Ended up using 6# leader and size 10 and 12 Prince Nymphs ... just what the doctor ordered (FINALLY!!!)
Hooked/landed three (no real size to any of them) and flat missed the fourth. Not a bad day. Fred

Sure am glad you've got some water Fred. all of our Steelhead are sitting in tidewater waiting for some rain so they can push upriver. 2 months with less than 1" of rain has created the lowest February level I've ever seen.

Roger that, on the Chetco a couple of weeks back and you could 'dam it with a tea cup.' Only thing having any 'success' were the bloody harbor seals chasing (what few there were) steelhead in the tide water area (up 1.5 miles from the mouth).
Wonder what it would be like to hook one of those guys on a 15' 10Wt spey?
