I am having the mulie I shot this year mounted and was wondering what you all thaught about pedistal mounts. I like them. I was going to just have a shoulder mount done but after seeing this one at my taxdermist, I am leaning this way. It is a little more $$ but I think it is way cool. What you all think? PS this buck was killed in the same unit and not too far from where I killed mine a year earlier. LIL

Lil,
I'm partial to shoulder mounts, but that is really nice. I think the reason I like shoulder mounts is it gets the critter up and out of the traffic pattern. Kids and dogs knocking over mounts that cost you big bucks can be nerve wracking...

Pedestals are perfect for bucks like that one cuz then when you shoot a trophy you can do a shoulder mount and hang it proudly on the wall.
Just kidding Lil...thats a great looking mount and buck!

Good looking mount! Think big, in a year or two you'll likely have one of each style mount anyways. Should make it easier to just pick which one is first.  Bill

Not a fan of the pedastal mount.If you got a big room with lots of space i guess you'd be alright. My fave is a semi sneak shoulder mount with a slight turn.

Here is an up date. I just got done building my pedastal done. What do you all think. The wood is off "the red barn" a barn on my great uncles property where I have been hunting all my life. The barn blew over last wenter in that big storm we had. LIL

That is an awesome unique touch. That ought to give you a little more to the mount. By the way that isnt an area 39 buck is it? It looks alot like a buck that I have been chasin for the last two years.

Andy,
I like pedistal mounts because they can be easily relocated and you are not limited to wall space.It also frees up wall space for other trophies. That is a nice mount in the pics.

Very nice Lil, I love the nostalgia you incorporated into the pedi....great idea!
I like shoulder mounts but the pedi mount is pretty cool...go with your gut feeling on this!

That's a NICE pedestal. The mount should look really good.

Last week went pretty well. I'm thinking I'm flying to Lewiston on Dec 6 for a couple days and then maybe back for a little longer around christmas. Hopefully that thing will be home by then and I can take a picture of it. Dad filled yesterday, doesn't sound too big, maybe even small. I've got a couple units down here that have some late archery stuff that I'm gonna work over every chance I get. Probably won't take a big buck to satisfy me after having to pass up deer earlier that people didn't want to pack out.

My taxidermist called thursday and said my deer was done. I picked it up this morning. I think it turned out awsome and I am very happy with the end result. I also got my deer for this year back. It also turned out great. Here are some pics! LIL
