I built an imx 1063 for ex and she slams in the door of the truck first time out pinching the top section about an inch from the ferrule. I cut off the smashed section and it seems to be sound but now but the top section only overlaps the lower section about an inch.anysuggestions?thanx

make sure that over the top section is reinforced to keep from splitting. Never gonna be the same old rod but its your best chance at using it. If its gonna break it will be under load so try not to go to hard on snags, beaching fish, etc.

is ther finish on that bottom section? I so a light sand might remove the "pretty" coating and let you slide it down farther. Not sure if I would sand on the inside of the tip end... you have a pretty skinny joint holding them together

After you sand it you can rub some heated parafin wax on it this will help it slide a little further down too . Make sure it is a very thin layer .

I bet you paid a pretty penny for that blank unless it was a second, why didnt you send it back for a replacment? I think the charge or no charge for replacment would be worth knowing it wont break again.
