Hello, I am new to the board and fairly new to Idaho I moved here a little over six months ago. So yesterday a friend asked if I wanted to go and do some fishing so I decided it was time to buy my resident hunting/fishing lisence and get a line yet. But when I went to wal-mart to get my lisence I was denied a resident lisence. The reason is that my Idaho Drivers Lisence was issued on 9-6-06 so I would not be a resident for three more days. But I asked if they really thought that I went to the DMV the same day that I moved here? They said they could not overide the system and that I was out of luck. So I had to buy another non-res day pass for $11.50, it's like the 5th one that I've had to buy. The problem is that the girl at sportmans warehouse entered in that date the first time I bought a day pass and now I'm stuck with it. Oh well maybee I'll go and buy it next weekend. Anyway, My friend and I hit up the Boise river at Barber Park for awhile with no luck. We were both using spin equipment, him tossing bait from shore and me wading around tossing lures, mostley Thomas Bouyants. After awhile there we headed up to Lucky Peak and fished near the boat ramp at the Dam. Once again he tossed out bait and I hucked lures. We stayed for an hour or so with no luck and nobody arount us was catching anything either so we moved to another spot up the Res. with the same results. We were running out of time due to a UFC pay per view party that I was going to so We headed into town for a last ditch effort before we had to call it a day. I went to a spot on the Boise behind the Garden City fairgrounds where I had caught fish on a previous trip. I went to the same spot I had luck at before and told my friend that I was going to catch one on the first cast, and I did just that. I tossed a silver Bouyant out into the current and about 12ft from having reeled back in, Whammo my lure got nailed and I was hooked into a nice approx 19" Brownie. Then a few moments later my friend had a swing and a miss by what he refered to as a "huge" rainbow. But we were out of time and my wife had already called and asked when I was going to be home to get ready. So reluctently we packed up and headed back to my house. The point is it was a slow day, but I ended up keeping the skunk off in the end by catching the largest Brown that I ever have. My skunkless streak in Idaho continues. Hopefully there will be many more productive days comming as soon as I can get my yearly lisence. BTW, I tried to post this in the Idaho Reports section but I said I could not have access due to not being a subscriber. I will have to consider doing that because I will have many more reports and photos to come. I belonged to I board where I used to live and enjoyed the learning and sharing that occurs and the wealth of local info that these bords can harbor.

Welcome to the board and thanks for the report. I'd suggest you subscribe, it's a cheap way to get a lot of information, and meet some great people.

With the exception of the license hassle, sounds like a good day.
BTW, when you subscribe, you might want to request access to the "Droolers Den" for added entertainment.

Hey, thanks for the welcome guys. And you are surely twisting my arm to subscribe. I just want to know that this is an active board before commiting any $'s. It's been kind of a policy of mine not to pay for anything on the net unless I am shopping for something tangible. However, I do appreciate the value of a place to share info with other anglers without having thousands of people reading your reports. Another board that I belong to is "invite only" for that reason and not viewable unless you are a member. Donations are appreciated but not mandatory. The weather is changing and I am as of today able to buy my license so I will be hitting the fishing hard very soon. There are so many places I want to explore and take my boat to that I hardly know where to start. It would be great if I could take a "peak" in to the subscribers section and see how active it is. But some of you that have responded to this report are bosting a large number of posts so I think that already answers my question. I will think about it for sure because I would love to chat and share fishing knowlege with you guys, and perhaps hook up and fish some time. Thanks again for the welcome. Oh and BTW I have never caught a Steelhead before. I am chomping at the bit to C&R one of those beauties.

Reel Angler, The Idaho Reports board has 1242 threads with 20821 posts as of right now. Just a tidbit for you. There are many get togethers that range from 2 boat fulls of guys to 40+ folks and a dozen or more boats. Plus with the numbers of people this board boasts, there is always someone fishing somewhere interesting, and you will get some great reports. That's my 2 cents worth.
I can tell you I've met some of my best friends on this board.
