Update a fishing report here. As of Feb 15th the number of winter runs over Gold Ray dam was minimal (under 300). In the next two weeks (Feb 28) the number had jumped to over 2,000!!!
As of 3-4 (a week later) the number had jumped another 1,400 fish to 3,430. Only problem is the river is still running on the high side at 4000 cfs at Dodge bridge and a bit under 2K in the hatchery area. Tough fly rodding with that kind of water flow.
That said, that number of fish this early suggests the run is going to be very strong. Summer run count ended up at over 14,000 in the top 30'ish miles of river. Fred

Fred , you ever fish where brothy lane hits the rogue in shady cove? Just wondering if thats a good hole? Never seen anyone in there. But never fished it before either. Cant wait to get back down there.

Scud, it's a very good place to fish ... at low water if you're off the bank. A drift boat gives you a wider 'water flow' window.
Right now the river's at 4300 cfs so a bankie would be standing in the trees or chest deep in water just to make a cast.
