Looks like a reduction to 1 fish per person per day for 45 days.

From one of the fish you caught in the hole I was fishing that you pushed your way into?

AKScott said: Enough of the B.S. On a totally different subject, as soon as I find out all the info, there's alot of mis-information circulating right now, I need start a new post. Many may have heard already, but some parts of AK may be having their Halibut limits lowered for part of the season. As soon as I get confirmed dates, I'll post the whole story. Right now, change is most likely going to happen, but I don't want to spread too many rumors and just want to get all the facts straight. Even some of the newspaper articles I've read have some details wrong. As for my info, I'm getting it from someone who was at the meetings held in B.C. alittle over a week ago.
Keep us posted Scott ...Thanks gooose

Yes Goose, That is the direction things are looking, but by no means is anything final. That's why in my post, I stated I wanted to get all facts straight before telling people these are the new regs. Yes this is the recommendation of IPHC, but from here, things need to get approved by the U.S. Sec of State with concurrence of the U.S. Secretary of Commerce, and the process goes on and on. So, as of right now, things look to be headed in the direction of reduced limits, but no need to get everyone excited about when and where, until things actually happen. The preverberal "the ball is rolling" is definately happening, it's just a matter of who gets run over and who jumps out of the way. At this point, only time will tell. Scott

Agreed AKScott just our experience down this way is that what the Halibut Commission wants is what it ends up being. Here's hoping that commonsense will decide otherwise.

Goose, Agreed, what IPHC says usually becomes law. Just hoping dates and/or decisions change. I'm sure we'll find out before too long though. What I wrote wasn't meant to sound like I was disagreeing with you. I just didn't want people, in general, to over-react with questions or posts until we find out what's going to happen. Guess we'll find out what's going to happen before to long. Hopefully/ maybe? Scott

A friend called me last week and said his neighbor bought a place in Alaska and will be up there working on it during the summer. We're invited. I told him it was unlikely I could get the time off work but I'd look into it. Got an email yesterday at work saying my leave request for August 18th-24th has the ok.

I don't even know yet. All I know is that we're going to be fishing for silvers and rainbows.

Turns out my buddy's neighbor has a business, or just bought into one up there. We'll be staying in Anchorage with access to a cabin on the Kenai Peninsula. We haven't been up there before so I'm open to advice. My friend's neighbor apparently knows some guys there who can point us in the right direction. I'll still be reading and looking over maps until then.
