Does anyone know of a good butt guide in AK with reasonable rates? Maybe a lil Ling action would be good also. Looking to fill the fridge for next year.

For a minute there ya had my hopes up with the title of your thread. Hot Damn...ID F&G is creating a halibut fishery!!
You'd probably get more hits on this if it were moved over to the Alaska Board, maybe a Mod can do that for you.
But back on the subject. The two trips I did several years ago were with Robbie Carrol of Irish Lord Guide Servive. He fished out of Ninilchik on the Kenai Pen. He was highly recommended to me by friends and I was pleased with his service, boat and equipment at a reasonable price.
One of the SH.net sponsors [look up at top of screen, is Bo's. Heard good things about him. I'm sure that you'll get more current info and suggestions from others reading your post. Good luck!

Well, if i thought they weren't already booked up, Waterfall resort can get u into some dandy lings and halibut, but i'm guessing they are already booked! Maybe next year u might try them! We have three board members that guide for them and Navigator might even throw up a pic or two of the halibut sley day he had last season! All i could say is WOW!

Well, not necessarily bad at some places, just waterfall, for they only guide for 4 months there! I believe most of Alaska is open for Halibut all year or at least nine months, u should be able to find something!

Where in Ak. are you wanting to fish? Are you wanting just a 1 day trip or do you want to spend a few days at a lodge? A little more info would help. Waterfall is not fully booked but if halibut is all your after there are better places that are considerably cheaper.

Heard a possible answer to the quota problem is 1 halibut under 32" before another over. Two a day.

Here's the photo Chris was talking about. 8 halibut in all, the two on the dock were 138# and 121# , couple of 70's, couple of 50's, plus salmon, reds and lings. This was a great day for me....my best of the season.

Mitch, why would you post a picture like that? you know Grizz is going to come back with a picture of a bunch of 200 pounders caught from Ketchikan along with a limit of big kings and embarrass us P.O.W. guys again
BTW, Good job couple more months we'll be doing it again.

Mitch, You are correct. One of the proposals being discussed for this season is one Halibut any size and one over 32", for a total of 2 per day. Also being discussed are: all Halibut must be over 32", one halibut any size plus a trophy size fish, and slot limits.I've got a curiosity question?????????? You were boat #29 correct? Then why in the picture of your "best day" is #5's fish tote there? Must be a Dockhand error.

My guess is, after Mitch abused those guys with that haul they were thinking about the bar, not the silvers.
