Ever have one of those days where you did a 'where did everyone go?' Decided to hit the river for a bit late yesterday morning and give my/neighbors Pooches a bit of a run/sniff about so went up to the Denmon bar/Modoc Ponds area. 10 minutes out of downtown Medford.
Drove up .... and I'm looking at 1,000 yards of empty beach???? Perfect weather, perfect water conditions, thousands of winter runs in the upper river and not a single other soul in sight.
On the way home checked out two other major access areas ... still zero people, and a Saturday to boot.
Go figure?

Oh I had my rods with me (3 spey, 1 single hander) ... what I didn't have the sense that God Gave a Goose is to leave my cell phone in the car.
Doubted I fished for more than 30 minutes and get a call from "the commanding generalette" AKA "The Redhead." Ooooooo! Ooooooo! Ooooooo! Lowes is having a sale (LAST DAY) on the new washer/dryer 'she' wants. "Can you go over there and buy it today!!??!!"
Given I was standing up to my knees in the river had to give her a 'hold on, I'll call you back in a minute.'Only thing in the car to write on was the back of an old Washington State Parks window hanger. Get info, rods go back on the top of the car; (collectively) 200'ish pounds of dogs jump back in, waders come off ... and have to drive all the way BACK to Ashland to get rid of the 'extra baggage.'(I should add that I have to drive right by Lowe's going to/from the river.)
Drive all the way back to Lowe's and dropped $2,400'ish bucks. Amazing what a man will do to keep his wife 'happy.'

Not when you're talking about close to $2,500.
