Well I went camping/fishing at Arrowrock this weekend for the first time. I got off of work early friday, went home and grabbed the wife and boat and met up with some friends who had been there since thursday. We camped way up the reservoir about a half of a mile before it turns into fast moving river by a developed campground. When I got there my friend told me he was happy to see me and the boat because he had not caught anything yet. So after a short unloading of some gear we lauch the boat and are off fishing, within ten minutes my bud is into a nice fighting rainbow. The fish had nice colors and a full tail. I figure either a "natural" or holdover. I then hooked and landed a fish that I have never seen before. It was maybee 14" long and brown to copper in color. I'm not sure what all kinds of fish are in there. From a few pics I've seen of the net I think it might have been a pikeminnow? We then drive back by the camp site and find that my wife and my friends daughter ave C&R'd a couple of Bull Trout (we do know what they look like). In all on Friday I caught 2 rainbows and one 1 ??? fish, my wife had a Bull and a Bow. My friend 1 bow, his daughter 1 Bull. It was a decent afternoon, time to park the boat start a fire and crack open some beer. The next morning we headed out to the main part of the lake and trolled and trolled with no love. We were flatlining thomas bouyants, kastmasters, panthers, and some small rapalas. Most of the fish that I metered were either on the bottom or in about 25-35ft of water. Is leadcore or downriggers usually required to have luck trolling at Arrowrock? I'd appreciate any info or tips I can get on Arrowrock as this is new water for me. And as I keep trying I will share my results with you guys.

Arrowrock is loaded with Northern Pikeminnow (aka squawfish). That is probably what you caught. Looks like a tanish silvery trout with no spots, yellow fins, and a smallmouth bass mouth?
I run flat lined pop gear and a wedding ring spinner with a worm or corn. This time of year the trout are up near the surface, just make sure you let out a lot of line, to get away from the boat. You can use from a 1/4 oz up to a 3 oz egg or trolling sinker to get it down to where the fish are. Rubber trolling snubbers are a really good idea, as there are nice kokanee in the lake.
Downriggers work great! I bet you were seeing kokanee around 35 feet, and for them lead core or a downrigger work best. I have also had good success with smaller dick nite spoons behind a little flasher or pop gear with a single piece of white corn on the hook.

Hey, thanks for the input. I was planning on heading out there today (saturday) to try my luck again. But it is really windy outside today so I'll try for next weekend. I rigged up a couple of my rods with leadcore and flashers above wedding rings. I would like to catch some Kokes. And the description you gave of the squawfish sounds just like what I caught last time.
