If there was ever a fish I wish I had a camera for it was this one. Before the trip started I looked at my camera sitting on the shelf in my room and thought, "Naaaa, I wont need it." So i dont have a pic but heres the story anyway.

Got out of school a little early when I was living up in Bellingham and a buddy from class asked me if I wanted to go bass fishing. Of course I wanted to go. We had planned on getting his buddys boat and going out to Lake Terrel but we couldnt get ahold of him so no boat. So he says to me, "I know of this pond that has 10lbrs in it." We arrive to the pond and im thinking "This S&^%hole? Yea right!" The pond was probably less than an acre and it just looked nasty. So we start making our way around the pond and the most we get are nips from the bull frogs. We come to this spot thats only big enough for one person to fish so I let him go first. He fishes it for a little while then turns it over to me. Off to my left was a small point with some overhanging brush. I make 2 casts paralell to the point, stick my rod tip in the brush and smash my spinnerbait through the cover. On the 3rd cast when my spinnerbait was coming through the brush it just stopped hard and I mean hard I couldnt even crank another inch on the reel. I figured it was a snag but I set the hook anyway and see a giant fish roll out from under the brush. Fought the beast for a little bit and finally put it on the bank. It was all of 10lbs +. I just sat there shaking in disbelief looking at this absolute hawg and my buddy was like "Dude that is the biggest f-ing bass i have ever seen." The thought crossed my mind to keep her but I couldnt whack a fish that was that incredible so back she went. The next day I went back to the spot and caught a 5lbr out of the same exact spot. I have a pic of the 5lbr i'll see if i can find it. I am still kicking myself in the a$$ for forgetting the camera on that big fish.

That sounds like it was the Clay Pit pond? Pain to fish from the shore.

Enjoy that pond...there were smallies in there also when I last fished it 17 years ago. Occasional nice cutts and do not be surprised to find a steelie or two.

I will have to find a scanner to show off Pics. I caught a 22 1/2 inch large mouth at Mann lake near Lewiston on an ultra light spinning outfit fishing for crappie. Been catching crappie all day when I made a cast and the line started spooling off as soon as it hit the water. Followed and chased the fish around and finally got it in the boat. A good friend of mine has a buddy that Bass fishes ALL the time and he told me from the Pics and considering she was FULL of eggs he would estimate the fish between 9-10 lb. Definatly my biggest bass!! LIL

I don't have a picture of this one, it was about 9 years ago at Boy Scout camp. I don't recall the name of the camp, but it was up in the High Desert in Northern California. They have a small (about 2 acres) private pond at the camp. I was casting worms and bottom bouncing them to catch small bluegill. I started to retrieve my 7th or 8th bluegill when a big largemouth grabbed ahold of my bluegill and took me for a bit of a ride. The fish was a bit short of the camp record at 6lbs 12oz

When I lived back east near Boston I used to bass fish quite a bit, biggest fish was 7 lbs. I used to fish at night with black jitterbugs during the summer. When they hit a jitterbug - KABOOM!!

Alan - You on the Flathead or Clarkfork? I used to spend a lot of time around that area, from Plains to Dixon. Absolutely gorgeous country. You had any luck w/ the pike around there?

A couple bucketmouths from ID waters.. No hogs for me this year, but my buddies was 7+. The kid is legit, fished for the ID state team for a couple years now, not even 20 yet.

I'm no Bass expert, these pictures are from Lake El Salto in Mexico in November '04-'05...it was great my wife and I caught over 70 bass each day on two different 4-5 hour trips.
All our action came on topwater plugs and 5" green floating worms...
all were released, if bassin was like that around here, I could get into it.

Lower Flathead and Clark Fork. I only fish pike as a bycatch. I keep telling myself I'm going to target a pike, but then I get on the river and smallmouth infects my brain.
